Some of the key responsibilities:
- Review, evaluate and clarify customer inquiries and technical specifications
- Identify technical factors in customer inquiries that may affect cost, delivery, and ability to conform
- Identify commercial factors and risks in customer inquiries that may affect cost, delivery, and ability to conform
- Select, size and price valves and actuators (all designs, manual gear, electric, pneumatic and like) that conform to customers’ requirements
- Coordinate with internal departments to obtain the information needed to provide comprehensive quotations

Requirements
If you have:- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or the equivalent
- Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec – OIQ (if applicable)
- 10 years of experience as an engineer
- 5 years of experience in a similar position (asset)
- Experience in inside sales or customer service in industrial products
- Experience with selection of mechanical equipment such as valves, automation, system controls, pumps, heat exchangers, compressors, pipes, and fittings, etc. (asset)
- Well versed in both metric and imperial scientific units
- Familiar with ERP system (information in BAAN LN)
- Well versed in document control process and engineering document revision control
- The candidate will need to become familiar with:
- Velan valve products, materials, accessories, and actuators used for severe service market applications.
- The various Velan internal procedures
- Valve industry basic standards (ASME B16.34, B16.5, B16.25, B16.10, API and more)
- Strong organizational skills and ability to respond well to changing priorities and deadlines
- Strong communication skills in French and English (oral and written)
- Strong computer skills (MS Office, Especially Excel)
- Some knowledge of valve selection and ASME codes (asset)
- Fluency in another language such as Spanish and Mandarin (asset)
- Ability to respond well to changing priorities and deadlines
