The Supervisor, Engineering Design supervises a Design Group’s activities, ensuring design quality, cost, and timeliness align with corporate goals. He/She set design standards, develop procedures, and seek ways to enhance design development and automation.

Primary Responsibilities :

• Plan, monitor, and oversee design team activities associated with project orders and product development
• Collaborate with the Velan Project Management team to ensure timely delivery of valves
• Assist the quotation team in selecting designs that meet customer requirements
• Supervise and approve the release of the Engineering bill of material
• Support the production team, including the purchasing department
• Manage documentation related to review, verification, and approval of design inputs and outputs
• Oversee the creation and maintenance of design outputs such as calculations, 3D models, 2D drawings, EBOM and related work products
• Coordinate the preparation of detailed specifications, IOMs (Installation and Operation Manuals), and other miscellaneous engineering documents
• Administer the use of engineering calculation procedures and programs, as well as the generation of related engineering reports
• Assist in reviewing, analyzing root causes, addressing deficiencies, and implementing corrective actions
• Ensure adherence to quality procedures relevant to design and development control

Requirements :

If you have :

• Bachelor degree in mechanical engineering
• Member of Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ)
• 10 years’ experience in a mechanical engineer position preferred, with a minimum 5 years’ experience managing engineering and design functions (candidates with an equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered)
• Strong knowledge of Valve design concepts for gate, globe, check, and butterfly valves, including actuation (electric, pneumatic and hydraulic)
• Strong knowledge of materials (especially steels), machining processes and mechanical assembly
• Good knowledge of design and drafting standards, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
• Good knowledge of product and life-cycle data management and configuration control concepts, principles and practices
• Intermediate knowledge of engineering CAD and PLM system
• Intermediate knowledge of the office suite (especially excel)
• FEA methods regarding stress analysis and computational fluid dynamics (an asset)
• Bilinguism (French and English, Oral and Written)
