Pressure Seal Ultraflex® Wedge Gate Valves 

Velan’s Pressure Seal Ultraflex® Wedge Gate Valve shows how proven engineering can be reimagined to meet today’s most extreme service conditions.

Originally developed more than 20 years ago, the Ultraflex® wedge continues to address a new generation of high-pressure, high temperature applications. The proven design was selected for an order of four motorized 10″ Class 4500 pressure seal Ultraflex® wedge gate valves in ASTM A182 F92 material, designed for service conditions exceeding 5,000 PSI and 1,130°F (35 MPa and 610°C), for an ultra-supercritical power plant installation in China.

While Velan is well known for valves in critical applications, the combination of valve size, material, and pressure rating represented an extreme specification. Leveraging the Ultraflex® wedge gate technology was instrumental in meeting the demands of ultra-high pressure power generation services. 

Unlike parallel slide or two-piece wedge designs, the one-piece Ultraflex® wedge offers a simpler construction with superior resistance to thermal and pressure-induced binding, delivering enhanced reliability under extreme operating conditions. 

Additional durability comes from Velan’s one-piece forged body (nonwelded construction) and barrel yoke design, which eliminates posts and enhances structural integrity. Together, these features provide confidence, durability, and performance in the most demanding applications.

Velan at the Fugitive Emissions Summit Americas – Pasadena, TX | April 15–16, 2026

Velan will be participating in the Fugitive Emissions Summit Americas, taking place April 15–16 in Pasadena. On Day 1 (April 15), Vahe Najarianwill represent Velan with a presentation titled “Closing the Gap: Advancing Beyond FE Limits with Innovative Valve Field Repair Solutions,” highlighting innovative approaches to improving valve performance and reducing fugitive emissions through advanced field repair techniques.

The two-day event brings together end users, EPCs, manufacturers, suppliers, and regulators focused on improving environmental performance and emissions control. It showcases the latest technologies, regulatory developments, and practical strategies for emissions monitoring and compliance, providing a key forum for industry collaboration and knowledge sharing.
