Securaseal® D-Series Metal-Seated Ball Valve
Engineered for High-Cycle Swing Adsorption and Molecular Sieve Applications — Switching valves play a critical role in swing adsorption systems, including Temperature Swing Adsorption (TSA) dryers, Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) units, and molecular sieve dehydration systems. They directly impact product purity, process efficiency, energy consumption, and overall unit reliability while operating under demanding conditions such as frequent cycling, rapid temperature and pressure changes, high differential pressures, and exposure to adsorbent particulates.
The Securaseal D-Series valve is specifically engineered to deliver the high-cycle reliability, durability, and tight shutoff performance required for critical switching applications in adsorption and dehydration services.
Key Performance Capabilities
- Tight shutoff (ISO 5208 / API 598 TSO) to prevent cross-contamination between process streams.
- High cycle life — Proven one-piece ball and stem design cycle-tested for more than 100,000 cycles in severe-service applications.
- Bi-directional sealing ensures tight isolation regardless of flow direction during switching sequences.
- Thermal transient resistance maintains seat load and sealing integrity during rapid transitions between hot regeneration gas and cold process gas.
- Abrasion-resistant trim designed for reliable operation in the presence of molecular sieve fines and catalyst carryover.
Key Design Features and Benefits
- Symmetrical bi-directional design: Fully symmetrical geometry with no preferred flow direction. Simplifies installation and eliminates orientation
errors in switching service. - Metallic bellows-loaded seats: A unique metallic bellows seat-loading mechanism maintains constant contact between the floating seats and the ball during rapid thermal transients and pressure fluctuations, preserving tight shutoff integrity throughout repeated switching cycles.
- Sturdy one-piece ball and stem: One-piece ball and stem design ensures absolute ball positioning and superior mechanical strength eliminating issues common to conventional two-piece designs, such as solids accumulation at ball–stem interface and the risk of ball–stem joint separation.
- Unique scraper-type replaceable seat design: Hardfaced, scraper-type replaceable seats remove deposits from ball surface during each cycle,
ensuring long, trouble-free service life and allowing for quick and economical repairs. - Fines-tolerant seat arrangement: Seat and cavity design minimizes accumulation of molecular sieve dust and catalyst fines.
- Advanced metal seating technology: Hard-coated ball and seats (65–70 HRC), optimized surface finishes to minimize wear and operating torque, and automated lapping processes ensuring full circumferential contact.
- Optional long-life pneumatic actuator: With heavy-duty limit switches and speed control accessories. Additional positioner available for redundancy.
