“Velan” Team Wins Value Engineering Award

Because of Velan’s commitment to quality, the concept of “Quality that lasts” is more than a corporate slogan; it’s a daily business imperative that drives our design, production, testing, and service.

In keeping with this philosophy, three Velan employees from engineering and production recently worked with five students from McGill University to contribute to McGill University’s Value Engineering Workshop. Velan proposed a project that would reduce the cost and optimize the design of Velan’s 8” (200 mm) TorqsealTM valve. At the end of the workshop, the students presented a final report that was evaluated by representatives of the Canadian Society of Value Analysis. Their project won first prize.

Value Engineering methodology, also referred to as Value Analysis, is a powerful tool for problem solving and improving a product or process’s value in terms of cost, quality, and performance.
