Velan India marked a significant milestone, celebrating its 10th anniversary at the company’s manufacturing facility in Coimbatore. The event brought together employees, industry dignitaries, and esteemed guests in a day filled with recognition, reflection, and a celebration of mutual growth between Canada and India.
The festivities unfolded in two segments. The first segment, known as VVI Factory Day, was dedicated to the hardworking employees who have been with Velan India for a decade. Recognition awards were presented to long-serving staff, and the year’s achievements were highlighted through a photo presentation. Winners of a pre-event sports competition were honored with gifts, and a newly introduced photography competition saw participants celebrated for their creative contributions. Certificates for completing a training program were also distributed, acknowledging the continuous learning and development of the workforce.
The second half of the celebration included heartfelt virtual messages from Velan employees across the globe. Special guests graced the event, including Cameron MacKay, High Commissioner for Canada in India, and Francis Paradis, Consul & Director of the Quebec Government Office in Mumbai, along with other industry dignitaries.
Visitors were treated to a shop tour, showcasing the advanced capabilities of Velan’s Coimbatore facility. A highlight of the tour was the unveiling of the Customer Corner by High Commissioner MacKay. The day kicked off with a special note of gratitude to the housekeeping team for their role in creating a welcoming environment each day with traditional Kolam art, which features decorative designs made with rice flour—a tradition that was integrated into the 10th-anniversary theme.
During his speech, Cameron MacKay emphasized the significance of Velan India’s success as a model for the collaboration and partnership between Canada and India, calling it a key driver of mutual growth between the two nations.
The celebration also took a moment to honor the memory of Terry Acers, who tragically passed away on November 14, 2022. A commemorative memento was presented to Ramesh Babu and Rob Velan, acknowledging Terry’s invaluable contributions to the success of Velan’s Steam Trap division in North America, where his family business, The James D Acers Company is the Master Distributor for Velan Steam Trap in North America.
